Get ready to create the most gruesome Halloween costume ever!!  On Thursday evening, October 30, at 7:00 PM, the Grand Blanc-McFarlen Branch opens the doors to Frankenstein’s Workshop of Creepy Concoctions. Step into the laboratory to discover the scientific formulas for making blood and other theatrical props to enhance your Halloween attire. Show off your skills as a pumpkin carver by bringing an entry for the great pumpkin carving competition.  It’s a Pre-Halloween monster blast!

 The traveling Wii game moves to the Montrose-Jennings Library today.  With a valid GDL library card, check out Wii Sport or Wii Play and the controls for all the games.  Up to four players can share the Wii Fun, so bring your friends for a Wii Sport round of golf, a bout of boxing, or a few frames of bowling. Wii Play features a shooting gallery, billiards, tank battles and more. Have your own Wii or other game platform? Request your favorite Wii, PlayStation or XBox game and check it out with your library card for seven days.  It’s free!!  The GDL is Wii more than books!

Morris will have the opportunity to experience Wii Sport and Wii Play all week. Library cards are required to check out games and controllers. One controller per library card, please. With only a few days remaining in Metamophosis @ theGDL, don’t forget to stop by your favorite branch for reading club prizes and check out the great new titles for 2008.  Â
Exploring Photography with Terry Green finishes with a flair in Davison at 1:30 PM and in Fenton at 4:00 PM on Tuseday, July 22. Discover your photographic skill level when Terry evaluates your work. Joel Tacey’s GameFest makes two stops this week. Get in on the Dance, Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero at the Vera B. Rison-Beecher Branch on July 22 and the Mt. Morris Branch on July 24. Be there by 6:00 PM to experience every high energy minute of fun. Every graphic novel has an ending and Roku-Shan will be at Grand Blanc-McFarlen on Tuesday, July 22 at 7:00 PM and Montrose on Thursday, July 24 at 6:00 PM, to help you put the final touches to your book. Grand Blanc-McFarlen hosts the Creative Journaling program at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 24. Later, at 7:00 PM on the same evening, join your friends at Grand Blanc-McFarlen for the organizational meeting of TAG (Teen Advisory Group). Be amazed as six teams compete in the Amazing Race @the library on Saturday, July 26 at 12 noon. Genesee-Johnson has a challenging course planned for the relay race of the summer. Registration is required, so call or visit to enter your team for the afternoon. Spectators welcome!!!

On June 2, the GDL Wii game will be on location at the Davison Area Library for one week. Bring your library card to check out a game and equipment.  Each player must have his/her own library card to check out a Wiimote or nunchuk. 30 minute sessions will be offered on a first come, first served basis. For details, contact the Davison Area Library at 653-2022. The Wii game will be traveling around to more GDL Branches this summer. Stay tuned for more Wii Fun at your favorite GDL location.

The Wii Have Fun - Bowling Tournament at the Clio Library was a huge hit! 7 spectators (6 adults and 1 child) cheered on as 4 bowlers tested their skills at the Wii Bowling tournament on Mar. 15. The top score for the day was a 199!
The tournament drew in spectators of the sport and a few people curious about phenomenon surrounding the Wii.
Now that the tournaments are over, check the scores to see how you size up against bowlers from across the county!
