There’s still time to enter the TeenFusion Talent Show. The next performance date is July 9, at the Grand Blanc-McFarlen Branch. Audition your talent on You Tube at http://www.youtube.com/group/teenfusion. Round one events are also scheduled for Davison on July 16, and Clio on July 23. All three events begin at 6:00 PM. Finals will be held at the GDL Baker Park Branch on July 30, 2009 at 6:00 PM. For more information please call the Teen Services Librarian at 810-653-2022.

Do you have TALENT? Auditions for the talent show are being reviewed on You Tube at http://www.youtube.com/group/teenfusion. Four libraries will be holding shows throughout the summer with finals on July 30th. For more information see the May 19 post below.

Attention Teen Readers!!! Express Yourself this summer at a TeenFusion summer event. Program information booklets are now available at your favorite GDL branch. First up is Read/Write/Lunch, a workshop for teen authors, on Saturday, June 13 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Davison Area Branch, 203 E. Fourth Street, Davison. For more information please call 810-653-2022. Online registration for summer reading begins on June 15. This year’s readers will be rewarded for tracking the time they spend reading. Awards for reading are as follows: 6 hours = prize book bag; 12 hours of reading = certificate for a day at Crossroads village for you and three others; 24 hours = a free paperback book selected from the teen booklist.
Week One Programs - June 14-20, 2009
Learn how to publish your songs with Shava Jamerson. Presentations will be June 16 at Genesee Valley; June 17 at Vera Rison-Beecher; June 18 at Mt. Morris. All programs begin at 2:00 PM.
Columnist Eileen Button will be at Davison Area on June 17 at 7:00 PM, passing along information about writing professionally.

Express Yourself and your talent!! The main event for TeenFusion Summer Reading will be the talent shows taking place throughout the summer. To be a part of the fun, upload your 2 to 3 minute video audition anytime from now until June 20, 2009 on You Tube, http://www.youtube.com/group/teenfusion. Qualified entries will be between the ages of 12 and 18, a card holder in good standing with the Genesee District Library, and be available for a live performance on a Thursday in June or July. Entries may include solo or group acts performing a skill or talent which can be enjoyed by all ages. Parental permission will be required for all contestants invited to perform for a live event. Four libraries will host first round events-Swartz Creek/June 25, Grand Blanc/July 9, Davison/July 16 and Clio/July 23. Three performances from each show will be asked to participate in the TeenFusion Talent Show finals on July 30, at the Baker Park Branch. Talent show participants will also receive reading credits for TeenFusion summer reading. Get ready for a great GDL summer.

Express Yourself at a GDL Teen Summer Reading event. Summer programs feature you writing, drawing, sculpting and performing. Start with the TeenFusion Talent Show. Get your act together, make a video then upload your audition to our You Tube website. Selected entries will perform live at preliminary events to be held at four GDL locations events on Thursdays in June and July. Three performances from each event will enter the final competition on July 30, 2009 at the Baker Park Branch. Watch for more details later this week.

In 1996, the Academy of American Poets confirmed the month of April as Poetry Month. The GDL and TeenFusion are hosting a poetry competition to celebrate. Teens are invited to enter original creations of twenty lines or less on the topic Express Yourself! Reflections on the Arts and Self. Submissions will be accepted from April 1st through April 30th at any Genesee District Library branch. Look for details and the entry form on the latest edition of the TeenFusion Newsletter. Please follow the guidelines below for your entries.
